Data management community

Data management practitioners update and share best practice on all aspects of data management – including data quality, metadata, data governance and data catalogues. They also develop activities to strengthen the profession. To join, please email: gdsdatamanagement@dsit.gov.uk.

Government data quality community

A community for anyone working in the public sector to connect with colleagues who work on, or have an interest in, data quality. Join virtual meetups covering a range of data quality themes, where you can share best practice and experiences, and build capability and skills.

Data Sharing Network of Experts (DSNE)

DSNE is a cross‑government group that provides impartial advice to unblock data sharing issues across government. The network brings together specialists in data protection, governance, privacy and policy. It promotes good practice, identifies barriers in complex cases and contributes to data sharing guidance and frameworks. Data science community

A place for data scientists to improve data science capability across government, and to help digital and other analytical teams work effectively with data scientists. The community shares and discusses examples of ethical, fair and good practices in data science and AI.

With over 3,500 members from across government, the community connects colleagues, shares best practice and builds AI capability in the public sector. Learn from speakers inside and outside government on topics including AI ethics, security and emerging uses of AI technologies.

AI for the GKIM community

This community focuses on using AI to better exploit, understand and manage unstructured data in government departments. You must be a government knowledge and information management (GKIM) professional to join. Members discuss findings from research projects and pilots that involve AI, and learn how to plan, implement and monitor the use of AI tools for GKIM purposes.

Data and AI ethics community

A community for public sector workers interested in discussing and exploring ethics in data and technology. Topics include the Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standard (ATRS), data ethics guidance for local authorities, and the ethics of using AI to analyse user research.

Data engineering community

This community is open to anyone working in central government with an interest in data and data engineering. It might be of interest if you’re designing data products and services, automating manual data processes, exploring new data engineering tools and techniques, producing data models or applying data standards and principles.

A community for anyone in government or the public sector working on APIs. The monthly meetings include expert speakers and discuss general topics around the use and development of APIs.

A community for people working on cross-government security on generative AI, as well as anyone working in government with an interest in the risks to and from AI. The community meets monthly to discuss security risks, offer practical guidance, host expert speakers and more.
